Are Your Business Listings Backfiring?

Are Your Business Listings Backfiring?

Inconsistent and incorrect business listings do more than just make your business look unprofessional – they can also seriously frustrate customers who rely on them. If your business listings are not updated with correct information, then you may as well not have them at all. Incorrect listings could actually be frustrating and deterring customers from wanting to do business with you.

Below are 3 of the most common reasons consumers feel frustrated with business listings:

1. Incorrect Hours – When are you actually open?!

You want consumers to have easy access to information about your business, which is why business listings are so important. It can be extremely frustrating for a customer to do a Google search, see that your business is open, and then drive there just to find out that those hours are actually incorrect. Don’t take the risk of irritating and possibly even driving away customers by confirming that your listings have the business’s actual hours listed without inconsistencies.

2. Payment – Will you take my money?!

Are there specific business characteristics that are important for your customers to know? Does your business take all credit cards, or can it only take certain kinds? Is it cash only? Are there discounts for senior citizens or military personnel? Make sure all of that information is displayed for customers to easily see. If your business deals with insurance, make sure that you only advertise the types of insurance you actually accept. It can be extremely frustrating for a customer to believe that your business takes their insurance when you actually do not.

3. No Directions – Where are you?!

You want customers to feel that doing business with you is a simple and easy process, and that includes making sure that your customers can find your business. If your business listings are incorrectly mapped, customers can find themselves struggling to find you and may even be deterred to a competitor who does have a reliable listing and is therefore easier to find.

Bonus: By having the correct location marked in your business listing, it can dramatically improve your business’s local SEO.
